We will start with a visit to Pisac market, without doubts one of the best artisan markets in South America. From here we will set course for Ollantaytambo, a small village located at the foot of some impressive ruins and more or less the gateway to Machu Picchu. At the end of the day you can either stay the night in the Sacred Valley or go back to Cusco to spend the night.

DAY 3 - Start of the 4 day Inca Trail

Today you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley and taken to Km 82 where you will pass the Inca Trail check point and start your 4 day walk to Machu Picchu. The first day you will see some smaller Inca Ruins and camp at Wayllabamba.

DAY 4 - Inca Trail

The second day is probably the most challenging as the greatest climb in altitude has to be tackled today. You will cross the highest pass on the trail at 4,200 meters providing you with great photo opportunities. From here you will start slowly heading down to your second campsite at Pacamayo.

DAY 5 - Inca Trail

Today the walking will be less intensive and you will notice by the number of Inca sites you’ll cross today that you are getting close to Machu Picchu. You will see smaller sites such as Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca, all connected by Inca trails and even tunnels carved out of the rocks. By the end of the day you will arrive to the campsite, located close to Winay Wayna, an impressive set of Inca construction on a great location. This will be the last night of camping.

DAY 6 - Machu Picchu

This day you will have to get up early in order to tackle the last kilometers of walking before you reach the Sun Gate; the entrance to Machu Picchu. With a bit of luck you will be able to enjoy the sunrise from here before setting off to discover the site. You will have a two hour guided tour after which you have the rest of the day free to discover Machu Picchu at your own pace. In the afternoon we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and to the train station for our return train to Cusco. In Cusco you will be taken to your hotel.
